The International Coaching Federation (ICF) defines coaching as “partnering in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires a person to maximize their personal and professional potential. The process of coaching often unlocks previously untapped sources of imagination, productivity and leadership.”
When you partner with a coach, you’ll find that you already have the answers to many of your most important questions about yourself and your life, business, work, and more – your coach will simply help you unlock them.
1. Clarity and Focus: Coaching helps you gain clarity about your goals, dreams, and values. Through insightful conversations, coaches help you uncover your true desires, enabling you to set meaningful objectives and stay focused on what truly matters to you.
2. Action and Accountability: Are you tired of feeling stuck? Coaches are your cheerleaders and accountability partners. They guide you in developing actionable steps, helping you overcome obstacles and stay motivated along the way. They hold you accountable to your commitments, increasing your chances of success.
3. Self-Discovery and Growth: Coaching provides a safe space for self-exploration and personal development. Coaches ask powerful questions that challenge your assumptions, beliefs, and limitations, allowing you to discover new perspectives and unlock your potential. It's like having a personal guide on your journey of self-discovery.
4. Relationships: Whether it's your personal or professional life, coaching can enhance your relationships. Coaches help you understand your communication patterns, emotional triggers, and provide guidance on conflict resolution. By improving your self-awareness, you'll have better tools to foster healthy connections.
5. Stress Reduction and Well-being: Life can be overwhelming, but coaching can help you manage stress and improve your overall well-being. Coaches can assist you in developing effective coping strategies, creating work-life balance, and prioritizing self-care.
No, it isn’t. While therapy or counselling primarily focuses on healing and addressing emotional or psychological issues related to past experiences, coaching is forward-focused and goal-oriented. I work with individuals who are generally functioning well but seek guidance in specific areas of their life to achieve personal and professional growth. I provide support, motivation, and accountability, helping you set and achieve goals while focusing on your present and future.
I am a trained and experienced coach, I am not a trained therapist or a trained counsellor.
It really depends on your individual goals and needs. Some clients may achieve their desired results in a few sessions, while others may benefit from a longer-term coaching relationship. A typical coaching engagement can last anywhere from a few months to a year, with one-hour sessions typically held on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
Confidentiality is a cornerstone of the coaching relationship. As a professional ethical standard, I am committed to maintaining strict confidentiality regarding all client information shared during sessions. This allows you to feel safe and secure while discussing personal matters and exploring your goals openly.
Finding the right coach is crucial for a successful coaching experience. Anyone can call themselves a coach – but not all coaches are trained and accredited by internationally recognised organizations. So the first step is always to check out the coach’s credentials. I am a Certified Co-Active Professional Coach and I hold an accreditation (ACC) with the International Coaching Federation.
Even so, I still may not be the right coach for you. For coaching to work, the chemistry has to be right – you have to be able to commit 100% to the coaching process.
I always want to meet potential clients for a free chemistry session before we start working together. That way, you can ask all the questions you need to and get to know me a little before any commitments are made.
I would really recommend that you meet several coaches before you decide - then trust your intuition and choose a coach with whom you feel comfortable and inspired to work towards your aspirations.
When you're ready, just get in touch to schedule an initial chemistry session. During this session, we'll discuss your goals, answer any remaining questions you might have, and determine if we're a good fit to embark on a transformative coaching journey together.
